On Feb 25th, 2007, the Athletic Sport League of
Japan holds the Okinawa Marathon. The Marathon starts from Okinawa Prefecture
Comprehensive Athletic Park in Awase at 9:00 a.m. and finishes at the same park.
Both competitive and general
runners need to follow the notice below.
The number tags for participants will be issued on Feb. 23rd (sat) from
13:00 to 17:00 as well as Feb. 24th (sun) before the race at Okinawa
Prefecture
Comprehensive Athletic Park in Awase. Every year,
many participants come to Koza Athletic Stadium by mistake, where the Okinawa
Marathon Executive Office is located. We advise you to make
sure the location of Okinawa
Prefecture Comprehensive Athletic
Park in Awase prior to the Marathon day. Please don't
forget to bring your forms receipts of your registration fee in order to receive
your tags. We will
give you tags only by exchange with your forms. If your forms are missing, let
us know immediately.
- Runners should take a physical examination prior to the race and also pay
a close attention to your health condition. The 2008
Okinawa Marathon Headquarters and staff will not be responsible for any of
your accidents during or after
the race resulted from the poor health conditions.
- There will be a baggage storage area located in the gymnasium for free. However,
the 2008 Okinawa Marathon Headquarters, sponsors, and staff will not be explicitly
responsible for securing personal belongings. So please be
responsible for your belongings. There also will be a pay
baggage check-in service for 500 yen (Only yen is accepted). If
you would like to use the service, please purchase a ticket on Feb. 23rd (sat)
or Feb. 24th (sun).
- As a rule, runners cannot put anything that advertises club names, companies,
or goods on your clothes.
- We do not allow you to change the Marathon Distance after handing in the
applications.
- The Okinawa Marathon Executive Committee does not accept any substitute or
alternate runners. There is no exception. Only the names that
appear on the registration lists are authorized to participate in the race.
- “Runners Torso Tag” will be used as an automatic
time measuring instrument. Please make sure that the plastic
cover is closed firmly. Even though you withdraw from the
race or couldn't participate in the race, please bring them back at “RT
Tag Collect Area“. If you break or
lose the Tags, you have to pay 2,000 yen for the compensation. So
please be careful and keep them until you bring them back
to us.

- Starting Position: Due to the mere number
of runners, the area near the starting line will be very congested. Our
staff will hold numbered signs along the starting
line. Please match your assigned numbers with the signs and
line up behind them. Although there might be slower runners in front of you,
please do not attempt anything that endanger other runners or disrupt Smooth
start.
- Distance Indicators: Distance indicators
will appear every 5 km and at the halfway point. They will
be set every 1 km before 5 km to the goal.
- Gateways: We will record 50 fastest runners
at gateways set up every 5km and at the halfway point.
- Time Check Points: All runners must pass these check points by limited times
(The checkpoints and limited times are shown below). We will stop runners who
fail to reach these check points by the certain time limits. These runners
have to exit the course by moving to sidewalk and remove the number bands.
There will be a bus waiting for these runners who are withdrawn from the race.

Water and sponges will be provided every 5 km after the first time checkpoint. If you are having own bottles(called special
bottle),
Please bring it to the Special Drink Desk within
Information booth in front of the main stadium. Special bottle will be accepted between 7:00 and 8:00.

Traffic will be diverted from the course for several hours to ensure runners'
safety. Since the traffic will be resumed regularly after the limited times
at each section, runners who fail to reach the check points within the times
have to move to the sidewalk.
- Runners are not allowed to run anywhere out of the designated course, in
the opposite direction, or to disturb other runners.
- Keep in mind to throw cups and sponges in the specified areas.
- Look out for ambulances and don't get in their way.
- Try to plan for the weather conditions.

| The weather can be cold one day and
hot the next day, but it’s getting warmer every after rain. It’s also the season for cherry blossoms and azalea. |

- If you feel bad before or during the marathon, please look for Banners where
there are firemen on standby or contact the marathon staff.
- First Aid will be provided for any injuries or accidents during the marathon.
- If you decide to withdraw from the race due to your health condition, please
inform our staff.
We will award all the runners who complete the entire course with a medal and
certificate. If you are amongst top finishers, please notify
our staff. There will be an acupuncture massage service in the arena. You are
welcome to try
it and relax your muscle after the race.
Parking is prohibited in Okinawa Prefecture Comprehensive Athletic Park at
the Marathon day. There will be designated public parking
areas, which is about 5 km apart from the Park (please refer to an attached
map). You can use a Shuttle
bus service or take a taxi. Carpools are highly recommended.
